What is AVGS?

AVGS (Aktivierungs- und Vermittlungsgutschein) is a voucher issued by Jobcenter or the German Employment Agency. This voucher helps job seekers cover the cost of training courses and career coaching, enabling them to participate free of charge with the costs funded by the government.

Who Can Recieve an AVGS and Use Our Free Services?

  • Holders of family reunion visas
  • People receiving social support and holding a work permit
  • Final semester students or graduates
  • Trainees in the final semester of Ausbildung
  • Unemployed and job-seeking individuals

If you meet these criteria, you can participate in these courses free of charge.

How to Register with the German Employment Agency
(Agentur für Arbeit)

If you meet the requirements but have not yet registered with the German Employment Agency, you can do so by following these steps:

Contact the nearest Employment Agency

Use Google Maps or other resources to find the branch closest to your residence.

Visit in-person

Go to the Employment Agency and bring the following documents:

  • Identification card
  • Housing registration certificate
    (in german: Meldebescheinigung)
  • Resume and educational credentials

Registration

Register as a job seeker (Arbeitslose

/Arbeitssuchend).

Receive a customer number

After registration, you will receive your customer number (Kundennummer) and can contact us.

Career Coaching (Berufscoaching)

  • In-person in Berlin and online throughout Germany
  • Suitable for individuals supported by Jobcenter or registered with the German Employment Agency (Agentur für Arbeit)
  • Comprehensive and detailed advice on career, education, and Ausbildung
  • Support for learning the German language, including private tutoring at various levels
  • Credential recognition and equivalency
  • Assistance with writing resumes and job applications
  • Help with administrative matters
  • Guidance on starting your own business
  • Facilitating the integration process into German society

German Exam Preparation (Prüfungsvorbereitung)

  • In-person in Berlin and online throughout Germany
  • This course is suitable for individuals with a level higher than A2
  • Suitable for individuals supported by Jobcenter or registered with the German Employment Agency (Agentur für Arbeit)
  • Intensive two-month course
  • One-on-one or paired lessons
  • Preparation for exams ranging from B1 to C1
  • Focus on the skills needed for the exam

Social Coaching (Sozialcoaching)

  • Currently available only in-person in Berlin
  • Suitable for individuals with a language level below B1, who are supported by Jobcenter
  • Social support
  • Assistance with administrative and social matters
  • Help with daily and social challenges

Steps to Register and Use Our Services

Register

Step 1

Please fill out the initial form (Erstgesprächsprotokoll) after reading the instructions provided.

Recieve an Email from Us​

Step 2

You will receive an email from Job Service Berlin containing an Angebot (offer for our courses).

Send the Angebot to Jobcenter or the Employment Agency

Step 3

Submit the PDF files received in the email to your Jobcenter or Employment Agency contact using one of the following methods:

  • Email
  • Post
  • In-person visit 

Note: It is recommended to print the Angebot and schedule a personal appointment (Termin) with Jobcenter or the Employment Agency for a detailed explanation.

Coordinate for Personal Meetings

Step 4

If you have a scheduled appointment with Jobcenter or the Employment Agency, you can coordinate with our colleagues in advance to get better guidance for your presentation.

Meeting with Jobcenter or the Employment Agency

Step 5

During the personal meeting, explain why you need these courses. For example, you can explain the importance of receiving coaching in your native language.

Receive the Voucher (AVGS)

Step 6

Once approved by Jobcenter or the Employment Agency, you will be issued the AVGS voucher.

Note: If you do not receive a response from Jobcenter or the Employment Agency within two to three weeks, be sure to contact them and follow up on your case.
